Here's a true story that waited three hundred years to be told. It's the most exciting moment in pirate history, and yet this little book is the first to tell it! What do pirates love more than anything? That's right - treasure!
History and legend remember many pirate stories and captains - but until now not the true story about the pirate crew who seized the most valuable treasure hoard in history! In the year 1721, a British pirate captain named John Taylor, accompanied by a French captain nicknamed The Buzzard, seized the richest single booty ever to come into pirate hands. Taylor and his crew of mutineers took a treasure so valuable it would have taken almost 50,000 years to earn as honest sailors.
The staggering value of the riches finally convinced the Kings of England, Portugal and France to join forces for the first time to hunt pirates down. This marked the beginning of the end of the Golden Age of Piracy.
The Diamond Ship follows the true journey of this band of unruly pirates, in a story which until now has lain buried for three centuries in odd pieces of parchment and random scraps of marine diaries. With the exception of three fictional characters - a pirate gunner, a girl slave turned powder monkey, and a parrot, to help carry the story - the other characters, scenes, and even many of the conversations in this riveting tale really took place.
There's not a pirate fan out there of any age who won't be enthralled with this new feast of pirate knowledge. Find out what happened as this true story unfolds, plus learn a chest full of pirate sayings and hitherto little known pirate knowledge. Available as a chapter book for young readers or an audiobook, this tale is recommended for swashbuckling fans, but only those who dare be pirates themselves!
This is an amazing story, full of fascinating and well researched facts. Told Brilliantly with passion and realism. Adrian is a master writer and storyteller. I have been a fan of his books for many years. Keep up the good work.

Myself and my 3 children have just finished listening to this and we all loved it! They especially liked the pirate voice narration and the incredible detail of life onboard a pirate ship, including some really gruesome bits. I liked that it is based on fact and is historically accurate! Highly recommended!!

STORIES THAT CRAFTED THE EARTH is the best book on traditional tales that I have found, none of the rest have even come close. Very easy to read, gives the feeling that you are listening to the story being told. The stories are rich in details, nothing is lost. 5 stars out of 5
Stories That Crafted The Earth offers amazing magical insights into the indigenous roots of all our lives – wonderful - every school and curriculum needs this. 5/5
“Wonderful! Great stories. Well worth reading!” 5/5
“I have to say it's a more substantial book than I expected from the promotional stuff you see online. There are a decent number of good quality pictures throughout, some related to the stories, some about the tribes and traditions the story comes from, and very nice colourplate chapter headers, , which really adds to it. It gives the impression of a book that has had some consideration and effort put into making it a really nice treasure of a book, rather than just text on pages between covers. Though it mentions the number of pages on the online store it's a chunkier paperback than I expected which is always a nice bonus. Now I just have to leave it tucked away safely for a month or two so I can give it to my partner as a xmas present. 5/5

The Man From Story Mountain
Beginning back in the year 1994, as 'The Man From Story Mountain' I have visited over 1,500 primary schools as a storyteller. Even in Covid 2020 schools have registered me as a key worker so pupils can continue to reap the benefit my stories are attributed to boosting in positive focus and enhanced mental health.
I have also regularly toured festivals and other community groups such as libraries and mental health well being centres.
Glastonbury Festival is one of my long term clients - Europe's largest festival have hired me as a Master Storyteller every year since 1994. My other clients have included the British Museum, the Commonwealth Institute, Her Majesty's Prison Service, National Trust, English Heritage etc.
I won my first national writing award (Probus Club) at the age of 10. At 20 I topped my university in the study of English Literature as well as receiving a position as staff writer for the Newcastle University campus magazine OPUS.
By my early 20s I was a National Coordinator of Greenpeace Australia's Membership Response Unit. I helped co-ordinate campaigns such as successfully turning back Japanese whaling fleets, transforming ineffective city recycling, and halting the woodchipping of old growth forests.
I worked for 7 years as Storyteller/Writer in Residence for the mental health charity South Somerset Mind. Thank you to all those participants who came like clockwork, week in week out, across all that time. You will testify the power of story to heal.
I have been chairman of a charity called The Siddhartha Foundation, which we set up to provide a residential school for over 100 children, mostly Tibetan orphans, in Kathmandu, Nepal.
I am currently Editor-In-Chief of a London based housing magazine working to combat inequality and provide housing solutions for society's most vulnerable.
I am available for talks, storytelling performances and workshops so do be in touch!
